About IAMX

IAMX is the solo electronic project spearheaded by Chris Corner, best known as a founding member of the trip-hop band Sneaker Pimps. Launched in 2004, IAMX represents Corner’s artistic reinvention, with the name inspired by Sneaker Pimps’ seminal album "Becoming X." This moniker reflects his fluid, ever-evolving creative identity. IAMX's music draws heavily from the synth-driven sounds of mid-1980s icons like Depeche Mode, The Cure, and New Order, blending dark electro-pop with atmospheric, moody textures.

The project debuted with the album "Kiss & Swallow" (2004), featuring tracks originally meant for what would have been a fourth Sneaker Pimps record. IAMX quickly solidified its niche with consecutive releases such as "The Alternative" (2006), "Kingdom of Welcome Addiction" (2009)—notable for a collaboration with Imogen Heap—and "Volatile Times" (2011), which introduced more dance-oriented beats. In 2013, IAMX teamed up with producer Jim Abbiss, known for his work on "Becoming X," to create "The Unified Field," further cementing the signature blend of brooding synth and visceral electronics.

IAMX’s sound reached broader audiences through its prominent inclusion in the acclaimed TV series "How to Get Away with Murder" during its first four seasons. Later albums, including the haunting "Metanoia" (2015) and ambient instrumental "Unfall" (2017), delve deep into themes of emotional turmoil, sexual fluidity, and decadence. The 2018 release "Alive In New Light," featuring vocal contributions from Kat Von D, highlights IAMX’s ongoing evolution and collaborative spirit. Known for its compelling fusion of dark synth-pop and theatrical intensity, IAMX remains a powerful voice in alternative electronic music.
