About Sneaker Pimps

Sneaker Pimps, formed in Hartlepool, UK, emerged as key innovators in the trip-hop scene with their influential debut album *Becoming X* (1996). Renowned for their inventive sampling and atmospheric fusion of electronic and organic sounds, the band crafted a signature style defined by haunting melodies and the interplay of male and female vocals. This distinctive approach drove several singles, including "Six Underground," "Spin Spin Sugar," "Low Five," and "Bloodsport," into the UK Top 40, solidifying their status within the genre during their initial seven-year run.

After their hiatus, founding members Chris Corner and Liam Howe pursued successful solo careers—Corner as IAMX and Howe under the moniker AMP—collaborating with notable artists such as Gary Numan and Lana Del Rey. Reuniting after years apart, Sneaker Pimps now operate between Los Angeles and London, welcoming new vocalist Simonne Jones to their lineup. Their recent return is marked by the ambitious double album *Squaring The Circle*, a project that bridges their classic trip-hop roots with fresh creative energy. This comeback underscores Sneaker Pimps' enduring influence and their ability to evolve within the evolving landscape of electronic music.
