About L’Âme Immortelle

L’Âme Immortelle, an influential Austrian electro-goth band, emerged from the darkwave scene in 1996 when vocalist Thomas Rainer met keyboardist Hannes Medwenitsch. The duo soon expanded their lineup by adding singer Sonja Kraushofer, shaping a distinctive blend of electronic beats and emotive vocals. Their early demo garnered attention from Liechtenstein’s MOS Records, leading to the release of their debut album, *Lieder die Wie Wunden Bluten* (1997), which featured the underground hit "Life Will Never Be the Same Again."

Building on this momentum, their sophomore album *In Einer Zukunft Aus Tränen und Stahl* (1998) made a significant impact on the German alternative charts. This success landed them a coveted support slot touring Europe with gothic pioneers Christian Death in 1999. Following this, L’Âme Immortelle signed with Trisol Records to release *Wenn der Letzte Schatten Fällt* (1999), further solidifying their presence in the darkwave and electro-goth scenes.

Over time, the band evolved their sound by incorporating organic elements such as orchestral strings, showcased on *Dann Habe im Umsonst Gelebt* (2001). After Medwenitsch’s departure in 2002, guitarist Ashley Dayour joined, contributing to *Als die Liebe Starb* (2003), which included the club favorite "Tiefster Winter." Their 2004 album *Gezeiten*, released under BMG’s Super Sonic label, propelled them into the German Top 20, marking their mainstream breakthrough. They followed with *Auf Deinen Schwingen* (2006), maintaining their signature fusion of darkwave melancholy and electronic intensity.

Known for their evocative lyrics and innovative soundscape, L’Âme Immortelle remains a cornerstone of the German-speaking goth and industrial music scenes, continually influencing new generations of electro-goth artists.
