About Bonobo

Bonobo, the stage name of British electronic musician and producer Simon Green, has been a pioneering force in downtempo electronica since launching his project in Brighton, England, in 1999. He first gained attention with his debut album, "Animal Magic" (2000), a richly textured collection characterized by dusty samples, dub influences, and exotic instruments like sitars. Initially signed to the Tru Thoughts label, Green soon moved to Ninja Tune in 2001, where his sound deepened and evolved.

Subsequent releases such as "Dial 'M' for Monkey" (2003) and "Days to Come" (2006) showcased a more jazz-inflected style, with vocal contributions from artists like Bajka and Fink. "Days to Come" notably earned Album of the Year recognition from BBC Radio 1’s Gilles Peterson audience. Bonobo’s breakthrough album, "Black Sands" (2010), featured soulful collaborations with Andreya Triana and introduced UK garage rhythms, broadening his appeal on both listening and dance floors.

He reached new commercial heights with "The North Borders" (2013), including a standout collaboration with Erykah Badu, paving the way for international acclaim. His 2017 album, "Migration," further cemented his status, hitting the UK Top 5 and winning Album of the Year at the Electronic Music Awards. Featuring collaborations with artists like Rhye, Nick Murphy, and Innov Gnawa, the album balanced organic textures with innovative electronic production.

Renowned for both his meticulous studio work and dynamic live shows—often featuring full orchestral arrangements—Bonobo has become a defining figure in contemporary electronic music, regularly headlining major festivals such as Coachella and Glastonbury. His music uniquely blends jazz, folk, soul, and diverse world music traditions, making his sound timeless and continually resonant.
