About Dave Matthews Band

Dave Matthews Band, formed in 1991 in Charlottesville, Virginia, quickly carved out a unique space in music by blending rock, jazz, and folk influences. Founded by frontman Dave Matthews alongside talented jazz musicians Carter Beauford (drums), LeRoi Moore (saxophone), and later bassist Stefan Lessard, the band’s distinctive sound resonated deeply with audiences. Their breakthrough album, "Under the Table and Dreaming" (1994), propelled them to national prominence, sparking a devoted fan base and launching a career marked by relentless touring and commercial success.

Over more than three decades, Dave Matthews Band has become one of the most successful live acts in history, selling over 25 million concert tickets—ranking them second in ticket sales worldwide. Their discography includes nine studio albums and numerous live recordings, collectively selling around 38 million CDs and DVDs. The band achieved a historic milestone with their 2018 album "Come Tomorrow," marking their seventh consecutive studio album to debut at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart. Continuing their legacy, their tenth studio album, "Walk Around the Moon," was released in May 2023 under RCA Records.

The untimely death of founding saxophonist LeRoi Moore in 2008 shifted the band’s lineup, welcoming longtime collaborators such as Jeff Coffin, Rashawn Ross, Tim Reynolds, and Buddy Strong. Beyond their music, Dave Matthews Band is noted for significant philanthropy through their Bama Works Fund, which has raised over $65 million for various causes. Their environmental dedication earned them recognition as UN Environment Goodwill Ambassadors in 2019, reinforcing their commitment to social responsibility alongside musical innovation.
