About Accept

Accept, formed in Solingen, Germany, in the late 1960s, stands as one of the most influential heavy metal bands to emerge from Europe. Founded by vocalist Udo Dirkschneider, Accept gradually shaped their identity throughout the 1970s, solidifying a lineup that included guitarists Wolf Hoffmann and Jörg Fischer, bassist Peter Baltes, and drummer Stefan Kaufmann. Their 1979 self-titled debut marked the start of a journey that would profoundly impact the metal genre.

Accept’s breakthrough arrived with the 1982 album "Restless & Wild," which showcased their intense riffs and blazing tempos, most notably in "Fast as a Shark," often cited as a pioneering thrash metal track. This momentum propelled them to wider recognition with 1983’s "Balls to the Wall," an album celebrated for its bold themes and powerful hooks, helping secure a dedicated fan base despite limited success in the United States. Throughout the 1980s, albums like "Metal Heart" (1985) reflected a shift toward a more polished sound amid lineup changes and internal challenges.

After periods of hiatus and solo projects, notably Dirkschneider’s U.D.O., Accept returned stronger in 2010 with new lead vocalist Mark Tornillo. Their comeback began with "Blood of Nations" (2010) and continued with acclaimed releases including "Stalingrad" (2012), "Blind Rage" (2014), and "The Rise of Chaos" (2017). The band evolved further, adding new members and producing symphonic live recordings. With the releases of "Too Mean to Die" (2021) and "Humanoid" (2024), Accept has solidified their legacy as trailblazers who helped define heavy metal’s sound and spirit across decades.
