About Leba Hibbert

Leba Hibbert is a British vocalist and composer who uniquely bridges contemporary jazz and reggae, crafting a sound that honors her rich musical heritage while exploring innovative sonic landscapes. As the daughter of legendary Toots Hibbert, the iconic frontman of Toots and the Maytals, Leba was immersed from an early age in authentic Jamaican rhythms and cultural traditions. This deep connection to reggae’s roots shines through in her soulful and warm vocal tone, yet she simultaneously pushes boundaries by incorporating elements of jazz, soul, and folk into her work.

Leba first gained recognition with her involvement in projects such as the band Space Devil, where her versatile voice and emotive delivery captivated audiences. Her music is characterized by heartfelt songwriting and skillful improvisation, reflecting a commitment to storytelling that weaves personal experiences with broader social themes. Over the years, she has performed alongside renowned artists and at major jazz and reggae festivals worldwide, further establishing her as a distinctive presence in both genres.

Following her father’s passing in 2020, Leba Hibbert has taken on an important role as a custodian of his legacy, participating in tribute concerts and projects that celebrate his enduring influence on music history. Through her passionate performances and dedication to educating new generations about reggae's cultural significance, Leba continues to build a compelling artistic identity—one that honors tradition while charting a fresh, expressive path in modern music.
