About Dolores O’Riordan

Dolores O’Riordan, born on September 6, 1971, in Limerick, Ireland, was the youngest of seven siblings and showed early musical promise through playing classical piano and harmonium in church. In 1990, she joined the local band Cranberry Saw Us, which soon rebranded as The Cranberries after she became their distinctive lead singer. With her ethereal and haunting voice, O’Riordan helped define the band’s melodic alternative rock sound that captivated audiences worldwide.

The Cranberries gained international fame with their 1993 debut album, "Everybody Else Is Doing It, So Why Can’t We?", but it was their 1994 follow-up, "No Need to Argue," fueled by the raw, politically charged single "Zombie," that propelled them to global stardom. Throughout the 1990s, the band solidified their reputation with albums like "To the Faithful Departed" (1996) and "Bury the Hatchet" (1999), before their last initial studio effort, "Wake Up and Smell the Coffee" (2001).

Following a hiatus, O’Riordan ventured into solo projects, releasing "Are You Listening?" (2007) and "No Baggage" (2009), while also collaborating on works such as Zucchero’s "Pure Love." In 2010, The Cranberries reunited, producing "Roses" (2012) and the acoustic "Something Else" (2017). She also explored new styles with the supergroup D.A.R.K., releasing "Science Agrees" in 2016 alongside former Smiths bassist Andy Rourke.

Despite facing battles with anxiety and eating disorders, Dolores O’Riordan’s emotive songwriting and unique voice left an indelible mark on alternative rock. Her sudden passing in London in January 2018, at just 46, was a tragic loss to the music world, but her legacy continues to resonate with fans across generations.
