About Lydia

Lydia is an indie rock band that emerged from Gilbert, Arizona, in 2003, formed by five close high school friends. Known for their poetic lyrics and distinctive male-female vocal harmonies, the group quickly captured local attention. Fronted by primary songwriter Leighton Antelman, Lydia’s lineup has evolved over the years, featuring key contributors such as Maria Sais de Sicilia, Steven McGraw, Matt Keller, and bassist Shawn Strader. Their breakout moment came in 2004 when they won a contest held by Atticus, the skate-inspired clothing brand founded by members of blink-182, earning a coveted spot on the *Atticus: Dragging the Lake Volume 3* compilation alongside prominent emo and punk acts.

This exposure paved the way for their debut album, *This December; It's One More and I'm Free* (2005), which launched Lydia’s rigorous touring schedule and set the tone for their emotive indie sound. The band continued to refine their artistry with subsequent albums like *Illuminate* (2008) and *Assailants* (2010). After a brief hiatus, Lydia returned stronger with *Paint It Golden* (2011) and climbed new commercial heights by breaking into the Billboard 200 with *Devil* (2013).

Their evolving sound caught the attention of major labels, leading to a deal with Sony’s Weekday Records. In 2018, Lydia released *Liquor*, produced by Eric Palmquist and featuring collaboration with Lauren Ruth Ward, showcasing a more polished yet emotionally resonant approach. They have since maintained momentum with singles such as “Savage” (2019) and extensive tours, including their inaugural UK shows, solidifying Lydia’s lasting influence in the indie rock landscape.
