About MAQUINA.

MAQUINA., a vibrant power trio from Lisbon, Portugal, has forged a distinct path in the contemporary dance-punk scene by blending punk, psychedelia, and organic dance music without relying on synthesizers. The band consists of Halison on drums and vocals, João Cavalheiro on guitar, and José “Mendy” Rego on bass. Together, they create a relentless, machine-like rhythmic foundation driven by raw vocal intensity, scuzzy bass riffs, and piercing guitar effects. This approach captures a gritty yet danceable energy that challenges conventional electronic music norms.

Renowned for their high-energy live performances, MAQUINA. translates that same fiery spirit into the studio. Their 2023 EP *DIRTY TRACKS FOR CLUBBING* and single "PRATA" exemplify their improvisational creative process, which they describe as "pushing sounds together to make noise and pushing noise together to make sounds." Both records were recorded and co-produced by Carlos de Jesus at Arda Recorders, highlighting the band’s commitment to crafting club-ready tracks anchored in raw musicianship.

With a reputation built across Portugal, MAQUINA. stands out by channeling dance culture through an intense, hook-driven sound that balances experimental noise with undeniable grooves. Their music is a compelling fusion that continues to push sonic boundaries, positioning them as a powerful and innovative force in global dance-punk.
