About Flyleaf

Flyleaf, a hard-hitting alternative metal band from Belton, Texas, was formed in 2000 and quickly rose to prominence with their emotionally charged fusion of post-grunge, hard rock, and Christian rock elements. The original lineup featured vocalist Lacey Sturm (née Mosley), guitarists Sameer Bhattacharya and Jared Hartmann, drummer James Culpepper, and bassist Pat Seals. Known for Sturm’s powerful, soaring vocals that combined howls, screams, and melodic intensity, Flyleaf’s lyricism often explored themes of spiritual struggle, hope, and personal hardship.

The band’s breakthrough came with their self-titled debut album in 2005, produced by Howard Benson. This platinum-certified record delivered hits like "I’m So Sick" and "All Around Me," topping alternative, hard rock, and Christian music charts alike. Their success was fueled by extensive touring—sharing stages with acts like Korn and Disturbed—and inclusion in popular video games such as Rock Band and Guitar Hero 3, which broadened their fanbase.

Flyleaf maintained momentum with their 2009 album "Memento Mori," which cemented their place on the Billboard 200’s top ten and continued their chart dominance. Following 2012’s "New Horizons," Sturm left to prioritize family, leading to Kristen May stepping in for the 2014 album "Between the Stars." After May’s departure in 2016, the band went on hiatus.

In 2022, Flyleaf reignited excitement by reuniting with Lacey Sturm, releasing a deluxe version of their debut, and announcing reunion shows. Their enduring influence in the hard rock and Christian rock scenes confirms Flyleaf’s lasting legacy as a band that skillfully blends raw emotion with compelling musicianship.
