About Porcupine Tree

Porcupine Tree, formed in 1987 by visionary musician Steven Wilson alongside Richard Barbieri and Gavin Harrison, is a seminal British rock band celebrated for its boundary-pushing sound and genre-defying style. Initially conceived as Wilson’s experimental project separate from his synth-pop collaboration No-Man, Porcupine Tree evolved into a full band in the early 1990s, bringing Wilson’s expansive creative vision to life both in studio recordings and live performances.

Across a prolific career spanning from 1992’s debut album "On the Sunday of Life" to 2009’s ambitious "The Incident," Porcupine Tree has seamlessly blended psychedelic rock, ambient electronics, experimental pop, and a distinct metal influence. Their 2002 album "In Absentia" stands out as a landmark release, with critics like Classic Rock hailing it as a “21st century masterpiece” that marked a powerful metal-infused evolution in their sound.

Renowned for their artistic versatility, the band’s discography showcases a unique fusion of styles that resists simple classification. After a landmark live show at London’s Royal Albert Hall in 2010, Porcupine Tree went on an extended hiatus. Their highly anticipated return came with the 2022 album "Closure / Continuation," reestablishing the band as progressive rock pioneers and reaffirming their enduring influence on modern rock music.
