About Erik Deutsch

Erik Deutsch is a highly versatile pianist, keyboardist, composer, and bandleader whose dynamic career now spans over three decades. Initially rooted in the vibrant music scenes of Brooklyn and Boulder, he currently calls Mexico City home. Known for seamlessly blending genres such as jazz, rock, country, and pop, Deutsch has collaborated with an impressive lineup of acclaimed artists including The Black Crowes, Norah Jones, Rosanne Cash, John Scofield, Phil Lesh, Warren Haynes, and Gary Clark Jr.

Since 2022, Deutsch has been the full-time keyboardist for The Black Crowes, touring across five continents and playing a pivotal role in their Grammy-nominated album "Happiness Bastards." Beyond his collaborative efforts, he maintains a prolific solo career backed by eight critically acclaimed albums. Notably, his 2015 release "Outlaw Jazz" earned the #16 spot on Relix magazine’s best albums of the year list. His innovative work has attracted attention from prominent outlets like Rolling Stone, Jazz Times, USA Today, and The Huffington Post. Additionally, DownBeat magazine has repeatedly honored Deutsch as a Rising Star Organist, ranking him fifth in their annual poll.

With his ninth solo album, "This Was Then," slated for release in July 2025 on the Hammer & String label, Erik Deutsch continues to evolve as a creative force. His blend of genre-hopping expertise and masterful keyboard skills secures his place as one of contemporary music’s most compelling artists.
