About Kent

Kent is a seminal Swedish alternative rock band that originated in Eskilstuna, Sweden, in 1990. Renowned for their melancholic soundscapes and poetic, introspective lyrics primarily delivered in Swedish, Kent quickly established themselves as one of Scandinavia’s most influential musical acts. Their breakthrough albums, including "Verkligen" (1996) and "Isola" (1997), laid the groundwork for their rise, while "Hagnesta Hill" (1999) further cemented their reputation domestically and abroad.

Kent’s signature sound uniquely blends atmospheric rock with melodic pop, post-punk, and electronic music elements, creating a rich and evolving musical tapestry. This versatility allowed them to explore different sonic landscapes without losing their emotional intensity. Their critically acclaimed album "Vapen & ammunition" (2002) propelled the band to national stardom, featuring hit singles like "Dom andra" and "Kärleken väntar." They also recorded select albums in English, broadening their international reach while retaining deep Scandinavian roots.

Over their career, Kent released several successful works, including "Du & jag döden" (2005) and "Röd" (2009), showcasing artistic growth and experimentation. Their contributions earned them multiple Swedish Grammy Awards and an MTV Europe Music Award, highlighting their impact both in Sweden and across Europe. When Kent announced their farewell tour in 2016, they left a lasting legacy as cultural ambassadors of Swedish rock, inspiring a new generation of Nordic artists with their innovative music and evocative songwriting.
