About The Black Crowes

The Black Crowes, formed in Georgia in 1984 by brothers Chris and Rich Robinson, revitalized classic rock with a raw, blues-infused sound reminiscent of the Rolling Stones and Faces. Their breakthrough came with the 1990 debut album "Shake Your Money Maker," which soared into the Top Ten and sold over three million copies. The album featured the Top 40 hit cover of Otis Redding’s "Hard to Handle" and the acoustic favorite "She Talks to Angels," highlighting Chris Robinson’s distinctive, Rod Stewart-like vocal style and Rich Robinson’s guitar blend of Keith Richards’ grit and Ron Wood’s rhythm.

Building on this success, The Black Crowes released "The Southern Harmony and Musical Companion" (1992), an album that debuted at number one despite lacking major singles, cementing their reputation for blending blues rock with rootsy, soulful grooves. Subsequent albums like "Amorica" (1994) and "Three Snakes and One Charm" (1996) deepened their exploration of vintage rock textures. Known for fiery live shows, they collaborated with Led Zeppelin’s Jimmy Page on the acclaimed "Live at the Greek" (2000).

After the introspective "Lions" (2001) and a hiatus starting in 2002, the band reunited to produce "Warpaint" (2008), "Before the Frost/Until the Freeze" (2009), and the acoustic reinterpretations album "Croweology" (2010). Despite lineup changes and intermittent breaks, The Black Crowes officially disbanded in 2015. Their legacy endures as one of America’s definitive blues-rock bands, celebrated for authentically reviving the spirit and swagger of classic rock.
