About Café Quijano

Café Quijano is a Spanish alternative band formed in 1996 by the Quijano brothers—Manuel, Óscar, and Raúl—who were deeply influenced by their father’s career as a professional singer. Originating from León, Spain, the trio debuted live at the prestigious Emperador Theatre after crafting a compelling demo that caught the attention of Warner Records. Their self-titled debut album, released in 1998, marked the beginning of an extensive nationwide tour and established their presence in Spain’s alternative rock scene.

The band’s artistic breakthrough came with their 2000 album, "La Extraordinaria Paradoja del Sonido Quijano," which boldly fused alternative rock with traditional Latin rhythms such as rumba, guaracha, son, and mambo. This innovative blend resonated widely, earning the album platinum certification and positioning Café Quijano as pioneers in blending modern rock with Latin sounds. Continuing their creative journey, they released "Taberna del Buda" in 2001, an album that further showcased their commitment to musical experimentation while paying homage to their cultural roots.

Known for their dynamic sound and heartfelt lyrics, Café Quijano remains a vital part of Spain’s musical landscape. Their seamless integration of rock and Latin influences not only propelled them to national acclaim but also left a lasting imprint on the evolution of contemporary Spanish music.
