About Julia Jacklin

Julia Jacklin is a Melbourne-based Australian singer-songwriter who has emerged as a distinctive voice in contemporary indie music. Since her debut album, "Don’t Let the Kids Win" (2016), Jacklin has captivated audiences with her raw, introspective lyrics exploring themes of intimacy, personal agency, and emotional vulnerability. Her follow-up record, "Crushing" (2019), received widespread critical acclaim for its candid emotional depth, further solidifying her reputation for fearless storytelling.

Jacklin’s third studio album, "PRE PLEASURE" (2022), marked a creative evolution, recorded in Montreal alongside co-producer Marcus Paquin, known for his work with The Weather Station and The National. Joined by her Canada-based touring band—bassist Ben Whiteley, guitarist Will Kidman, and drummer Laurie Torres—Jacklin delivers a softer yet profoundly poignant collection. The album delves into themes such as youthful confusion and spirituality in the piano-driven opener "Lydia Wears A Cross," while tracks like "Love, Try Not To Let Go" and "Ignore Tenderness" explore consent and emotional vulnerability. Songs including "Less Of A Stranger" confront complex family dynamics, and "Too In Love To Die" contemplates the fragility of love.

Praised for her honesty and masterful songwriting, Julia Jacklin’s work resonates with universal emotional truths, earning her prestigious accolades such as ARIA Awards. Her ability to translate deeply personal experiences into timeless music has made her one of Australia’s most authentic and influential indie artists, with a steadily growing global following.
