About Christine and the Queens

Christine and the Queens is the vibrant musical project of Rahim C Redcar, a French artist born in Nantes in 1988 into a creative family. Blending atmospheric electronic pop with incisive explorations of gender, sexuality, and identity, Redcar began his artistic journey early, studying piano and dance before pursuing theater at École Normale Supérieure de Lyon. Inspired by drag queens who performed with him, he launched Christine and the Queens in 2010, marking the start of a groundbreaking career.

Early EPs like "Miséricorde" (2011) and "Nuit 17 à 52" (2013) helped establish his presence in the French music scene. His debut album, "Chaleur Humaine" (2014), a deeply personal reflection on adolescence, delivered international hits such as "Saint Claude" and the UK-charting single "Tilted." The album’s English version peaked at number two on the UK Albums Chart and entered the Billboard 200, fueled by collaborations with artists like Perfume Genius and Tunji Ige.

In 2018, Christine and the Queens released "Chris," an album infused with ‘80s R&B and funk, boldly challenging gender norms and featuring notable collaborations with Dâm-Funk and Charli XCX. Later projects like the operatic "Redcar les adorables étoiles (prologue)" (2022) and the Tony Kushner-inspired "Paranoïa, Angels, True Love" (2023), which included Madonna and 070 Shake, furthered his artistic evolution. His latest album, "Hopecore" (2024), combines house rhythms and introspective lyricism, reflecting his continual innovation.

Known for dynamic performances and multimedia artistry, Christine and the Queens remains a transformative force in contemporary pop and queer culture.
