About Dave McCabe

Dave McCabe, a Liverpool-born singer-songwriter and guitarist, has carved out a distinct place in British music through his work as the frontman and chief creative force behind The Zutons. Rooted in Liverpool’s rich and demanding musical landscape, McCabe honed a songwriting style that fuses soul, rock and roll, and classic pop influences. This blend, paired with his fearless vocal delivery and emotionally candid lyrics, helped The Zutons stand apart in the early 2000s guitar-driven scene.

The band’s debut album, *Who Killed…… The Zutons?* (2004), and its follow-up, *Tired of Hanging Around* (2006), produced memorable tracks like “Pressure Point” and “Why Won’t You Give Me Your Love?” However, it was the song “Valerie” that propelled McCabe to international recognition, especially after Amy Winehouse’s acclaimed cover brought it global attention. Beyond his tenure with The Zutons, McCabe has continued to write both for himself and other artists, demonstrating a commitment to instinctive and heartfelt songwriting rather than trends. More recently, he has embarked on a solo project, marking a new chapter in his evolving musical journey and reaffirming his reputation as one of Britain’s most compelling contemporary songwriters.
