About An Dannsa Dub

An Dannsa Dub, formed in 2020 by Tom Spirals and Euan McLaughlin, has rapidly emerged as a groundbreaking force within contemporary soundsystem culture. The collective is celebrated for their unique fusion of Gaelic vocals and traditional Scottish instrumentation with the deep basslines and hypnotic rhythms of digital dub. Their innovative blend has garnered critical acclaim and widespread recognition, including two nominations for Live Act of the Year at both the Scots Trad Awards and the 2023 Scottish Album Music Awards (SAMAs).

Their self-titled EP (2021) attracted significant airplay from BBC tastemakers such as Don Letts, Craig Charles, and Tom Robinson, setting the stage for their successful debut album, "Air An Turas" (2023). This album, featuring collaborations with Cian Finn and Lana Pheutan, solidified their reputation across folk and dub music scenes internationally. Following this, the 2024 album "Through The Storm" expanded their soundscapes with production by Gaudi and mixing by Paolo Baldini DubFiles, showcasing notable contributions from Junior Dread, Rachel Newton, and Horseman.

An Dannsa Dub’s electrifying live performances have captivated audiences at major festivals including Glastonbury, Celtic Connections, Lorient, No Logo BZH, Dubcamp in France, and Goa Sunsplash in India. Looking ahead, their forthcoming 2026 release, "Twisted Roots," promises to push creative boundaries further by exploring diverse musical traditions from Appalachia to India. Featuring collaborations with global artists like Marina P, Cahalen Morrison, Italee, alongside Scottish talents such as Wends and MAL, the album aims to blend psychedelic roots, steppas, and dubstep with their trademark dub fusion. Continuously touring worldwide, An Dannsa Dub remains a vibrant and evolving presence in modern music’s global landscape.
