About Lin Cortés

Lin Cortés, born in Córdoba and currently based along the Cádiz coast, is a pioneering figure in contemporary flamenco known for his masterful fusion of traditional gypsy sounds with modern, avant-garde influences. Hailing from a deeply musical family—his father and grandfather were accomplished musicians, and he is the nephew of the legendary cantaor El Pele—Cortés began his artistic journey as a singer and musician at a young age. Over the years, he has carved out a prominent place on the international flamenco scene, earning acclaim for his innovative approach within the nuevo flamenco movement.

Throughout his career, Lin Cortés has collaborated with some of flamenco’s most respected artists, including Vicente Amigo, Raimundo Amador, Enrique and Estrella Morente, Rosario Flores, and Antonio Carmona. His versatility also shines through his work with global musicians such as Howe Gelb and Buddy Miles, the iconic drummer for Jimi Hendrix. This wide-ranging artistic exchange has enriched Cortés’s sound, which blends deep-rooted flamenco traditions with experimental elements.

Cortés’s discography includes three significant releases: his groundbreaking solo debut "Gipsy Evolution," the evocative "Indomable," and the minimalist 2020 EP "Gitanerías," which strips flamenco down to its rawest, most authentic form. Continuously pushing musical boundaries, Lin Cortés remains a visionary force, shaping the evolution of flamenco for new generations while honoring its rich cultural heritage.
