About Weyes Blood

Weyes Blood is the stage name of Natalie Mering, a Los Angeles-based singer-songwriter renowned for her transcendent folk-pop sound that marries ethereal melodies with deeply evocative storytelling. Growing up immersed in gospel and madrigal choirs, she began playing guitar at the age of eight, weaving these early musical experiences into a unique blend influenced by jazz, filmmaker Alejandro Jodorowsky, and mythologist Joseph Campbell. Mering’s music explores the forces that both unite and divide humanity, often drawing on ancient and contemporary myths to reflect a belief in shared stories as vital to human psychology and survival.

Describing her sound as "Bob Seger meets Enya," Weyes Blood crafts songs marked by haunting beauty and memorable hooks. Her 2019 breakthrough album, "Titanic Rising," earned critical acclaim from outlets such as Pitchfork, NPR, and The Guardian for its subtle meditation on impending global disaster. In 2022, she followed up with "And in the Darkness, Hearts Aglow," an album confronting the turmoil of the modern world—marked by digital overload and ideological conflict—while seeking moments of solace and hope. With five albums and extensive touring to her name, Weyes Blood continues to captivate audiences through music that balances melancholy and optimism, offering a luminous journey through doubt and resilience.
