About Lea Desandre

Lea Desandre has emerged as one of the most captivating mezzo-sopranos on the international classical music scene since her rise to prominence in 2015. Praised by The New York Times for infusing "life and beauty" into every performance, Desandre is celebrated for her striking vocal versatility and expressive artistry. Her repertoire spans from Baroque masterpieces to beloved operatic roles, including Urbain in *Les Huguenots*, Rosina in *Il barbiere di Siviglia*, Sesto in *Giulio Cesare*, Dido in *Dido and Aeneas*, and the title role in Marais’ *Alcione*.

A career highlight came with her 2018 solo performance in the fully staged one-woman show *Et in Arcadia ego* at Paris Opéra Comique, which showcased her theatrical depth through Rameau’s repertoire. Since then, Lea Desandre has been a regular fixture at prestigious events like the Salzburg Festival. She frequently collaborates with renowned conductors such as William Christie, John Eliot Gardiner, Jordi Savall, Emmanuelle Haïm, Joana Mallwitz, and Raphaël Pichon, breathing vivid life into historical music.

Beyond opera, Desandre is passionate about chamber music, often joining forces with lutenist Thomas Dunford and his Jupiter ensemble for intimate recitals. Her performances have graced world-renowned stages including London’s Wigmore Hall, Vienna’s Musikverein, Los Angeles’s Walt Disney Concert Hall, Paris’s Théâtre des Champs-Élysées and Philharmonie, Sydney Opera House, and Moscow’s Tchaikovsky Concert Hall. Lea Desandre continues to enchant audiences globally with her luminous voice and dynamic artistry.
