About Dom Pipkin

Dom Pipkin is widely celebrated as one of Europe’s foremost piano virtuosos and a passionate ambassador of New Orleans rhythm and blues. Drawing deep inspiration from legendary figures such as The Meters, Dr. John, Fats Domino, and Professor Longhair, Pipkin channels their iconic funk and blues traditions into his own vibrant, soulful sound. His distinctive style masterfully fuses classical sophistication with gritty blues undertones, anchored by commanding left-hand rhythms. This blend creates an authentic mosaic of blues, gospel, street beats, and jazz that encapsulates the essence of New Orleans music.

Over the past fifteen years, Dom Pipkin has forged a strong and enduring connection with the Crescent City, regularly performing at high-profile events like the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival and the renowned Piano Night. Sharing stages with luminaries such as Allen Toussaint, Ellis Marsalis, Jon Cleary, and Marcia Ball, he has cemented his reputation as a transatlantic conduit of the city’s rich musical heritage.

Beyond his solo work, Pipkin’s versatility shines through his global tours as keyboardist for trip-hop pioneers Morcheeba, his role as Musical Director for Paloma Faith, and collaborations with notable artists like Paul Weller, Laura Mvula, Ray Davies, and Pee Wee Ellis. His compelling performances have also garnered admiration from prominent figures including Jonathan Ross, Hugh Laurie, and Jamie Cullum, underscoring his status as a dynamic and influential figure in contemporary music.
