About Iona Zajac

Iona Zajac is an emerging voice in contemporary music, known for her evocative storytelling that weaves together stark realities with surreal escapism. Drawing deeply from her poetry and detailed dream journals, her songwriting candidly explores women’s experiences with raw honesty and subtle humor. This blend of vulnerability and wit gives her music a unique emotional resonance that captivates listeners.

Musically, Zajac’s sound is rooted in simple nylon-string guitar chords but has blossomed into a rich, textured landscape featuring rumbling percussion, shimmering Casio tones, and electrifying bursts of guitar. Her powerful, finely honed voice has been shaped through years of live performances alongside notable acts such as Arab Strap, Lankum, Anna B Savage, Cassandra Jenkins, and Alison Moyet. A significant milestone in her career was opening for and sharing the stage with The Pogues in Dublin, solidifying her reputation as a compelling live artist.

Iona Zajac’s much-anticipated debut album promises to further immerse audiences in her dynamic world of light and darkness, where discomfort fuels creativity and storytelling becomes a means to amplify marginalized voices. With a growing fanbase drawn to her authenticity and emotional depth, Zajac is steadily carving out a distinctive space in the modern musical landscape.
