About Inimigos da HP

Inimigos da HP emerged from São Paulo’s vibrant music scene in the late 1990s, officially forming in 1999 as a group of friends passionate about pagode—a lively subgenre of samba characterized by its infectious rhythms and rich percussion. The band’s original lineup features Sebá on vocals, Tocha handling the rebolo, Cebola on the pandeiro, Gui playing repique de mão and cavaquinho, and Alemão on surdo and additional percussion. Their name is a playful nod to the HP calculator, a tool they frequently used in their day jobs before fully dedicating themselves to music.

What began as casual weekend jam sessions quickly evolved into a professional journey with the independent release of their self-titled debut album in 2001. This record featured standout tracks like "Toca Um Samba Aí," "Bons Momentos," "Musa da Praia," and "Nosso Filme," which helped them gain nationwide recognition and regular radio play across Brazil. Celebrated for their authentic sound and charismatic performances, Inimigos da HP established themselves as a staple at weddings, festivals, corporate events, and a variety of celebrations, cultivating a dedicated fanbase.

Their artistic prowess was further acknowledged in 2009 when their live album "Ao Vivo em Zoodstock" earned a Latin Grammy nomination, underscoring their significant influence in contemporary pagode. With enduring versatility and spirited energy, Inimigos da HP continues to be a defining force in Brazilian samba, carrying forward the genre’s joyful tradition into the modern era.
