About Passenger

Passenger, the stage name of British singer-songwriter Mike Rosenberg, was born in Brighton, England, in 1984 to an English mother and American father. Developing a passion for music early, he took classical guitar lessons and began writing songs by his teenage years. At sixteen, Rosenberg left school to pursue music full-time, honing his craft through extensive busking around England and Australia. Originally, Passenger was a five-piece band formed in 2002 with multi-instrumentalist Andrew Phillips, releasing their debut album "Wicked Man's Rest" (2007) before disbanding.

Following Phillips’s departure in 2009, Rosenberg continued Passenger as a solo project, embracing a stripped-down, acoustic folk-pop sound characterized by heartfelt storytelling and cinematic lyricism. His major breakthrough came with the 2012 album "All the Little Lights," which featured the international hit single "Let Her Go." The song topped charts in sixteen countries, earned a Brit Award nomination for British Single of the Year, and won the coveted Ivor Novello Award for Most Performed Work.

Passenger maintained his momentum with albums such as "Whispers" (2014), featuring singles like "Scare Away the Dark" and "Heart’s on Fire," and "Young as the Morning Old as the Sea" (2016), which reached number one on the UK charts. His 2018 album "Runaway" revealed a rootsy Americana influence, reflecting his transatlantic heritage and accompanied by intimate acoustic tours across the United States.

Throughout his evolving career, Passenger remains a beloved figure in contemporary folk and pop music, known for blending emotional depth with accessible melodies and collaborating frequently with producer Chris Vallejo.
