About Anuel AA

Anuel AA, born Emmanuel Santiago Gazmey in 1992 in Carolina, Puerto Rico, is a pioneering figure in Latin urban music, known for blending reggaeton with heavy trap influences. As the son of José Gazmey, former vice president of A&R at Sony Music Puerto Rico, Anuel AA grew up surrounded by the music industry. He first rose to prominence in 2014 by sharing provocative tracks online, quickly attracting a vast following despite his explicit lyrics about street life, sex, and violence, which challenged mainstream radio norms.

His bold style caught the attention of Rick Ross, leading to a contract with the Latin division of Maybach Music Group. In (2016), Anuel AA solidified his impact with the release of the mixtape "Real Hasta la Muerte," which became a landmark project for Latin trap. His career faced a major obstacle in (2017) when he was arrested on gun possession charges. Undeterred, he continued to create and release music from prison, fueling the passionate “Free Anuel” movement among fans. Upon his release, Anuel AA emerged as a dominant voice in the genre, collaborating with top artists and influencing a new generation of Latin urban music. His unapologetic approach and authentic storytelling have made him a lasting icon in contemporary Puerto Rican culture and beyond.
