About The Third Sound

The Third Sound is a Berlin-based neo-psychedelic band led by Icelandic musician Hakon Adalsteinsson, whose rich musical background includes collaborations with The Brian Jonestown Massacre, Singapore Sling, and Golden Hours. The group’s evolving sound reflects Adalsteinsson’s visionary songwriting and broad indie influences. Joined by longtime associate Robin Hughes on organ and guitar, along with new members Frankie Broek on drums and bassist Wim Janssens—who also plays with Golden Hours—The Third Sound has refined its dynamic lineup to push creative boundaries.

In 2023, the band released their acclaimed album "Most Perfect Solitude," a project born out of a rare break in Adalsteinsson’s otherwise hectic touring schedule. After transforming early demos through an intensive week of rehearsals, The Third Sound entered the studio with producer Torben Utecht. In a remarkable feat, they recorded the entire album in just four days, followed by mastering from Ryan Van Kriedt. This swift yet focused process captured the group’s tight chemistry and musical growth.

"Most Perfect Solitude" stands as a definitive milestone, showcasing The Third Sound’s evolution both sonically and structurally. Their ability to deliver a cohesive, innovative record under pressure highlights their resilience and solidifies their position in the contemporary indie music scene.
