About Kraken

Formed on June 18, 1984, Kraken emerged as a pioneering force in Colombian rock, blending Heavy Metal and Hard Rock influences into powerful Spanish-language songs. Their debut concert at Medellín’s Lux Theater in September 1984 drew an enthusiastic crowd of 1,200 fans, marking the beginning of their long-lasting impact on Latin American rock music. Early tracks like "Nada ha cambiado aun," "Todo hombre es una historia," and "Muere Libre" spread widely through pirate recordings, quickly building a devoted fanbase even before official releases.

Kraken’s breakthrough came in 1986 during a memorable performance at Medellín’s La Macarena Bullring, where they shared the stage with Brazil’s Sanctuary in front of 6,000 fervent fans, many of whom sang along to unreleased songs. Over nearly four decades, the band has released an extensive discography that showcases their evolving artistry. Landmark albums include their self-titled debut "Kraken I" (1987), "Kraken II" (1989), "Piel de Cobre" (1993), and "La Fortaleza del Titán" (2014). They have also demonstrated versatility through live albums like "Kraken En Vivo: Huella y Camino" (2002) and the symphonic collaboration "Kraken Filarmonico" (2006).

Continuing to shape the Colombian rock scene, Kraken remains active with recent singles such as "Sombra Desnuda" (2020), "Hombre Mito, Hombre Leyenda" (2021), and "Los Pasos del Titán" (2023). Their enduring presence cements Kraken as one of Colombia’s most influential and resilient rock bands.
