About Romeo Santos

Romeo Santos, born Anthony Santos on July 21, 1981, in the Bronx, New York, has firmly established himself as the "King of Bachata" through his innovative fusion of traditional bachata with hip-hop, R&B, and pop influences. His musical journey began in a church choir, but real fame came when he co-founded the groundbreaking group Aventura in the mid-1990s alongside his cousin Henry Santos and brothers Lenny and Max Santos. Originally performing as Los Tinellers, Aventura revolutionized bachata with a fresh sound, blending contemporary genres that broadened its appeal worldwide. Their breakthrough hit "Obsesión" from the 2002 album "We Broke the Rules" catapulted them to international stardom, followed by other successful albums like "Love & Hate" (2003) and "The Last" (2009), which produced numerous top-five U.S. Latin singles.

After Aventura disbanded in 2011, Romeo Santos launched a highly successful solo career. His debut album "Formula, Vol. 1" (2011), featuring hits like "You" and collaborations with Usher, gained widespread acclaim. He solidified his solo dominance with "Formula, Vol. 2" (2014), an eleven-times platinum album boasting star-studded collaborations with Drake, Nicki Minaj, and Marc Anthony. Santos continued redefining bachata with "Golden" (2017), featuring Luis Fonsi and Nicky Jam, and "Utopia" (2019), which included the Aventura reunion track "Inmortal." The trilogy concluded with "Formula, Vol. 3" (2022), noted for collaborations with Justin Timberlake and Rosalía.

Known for his romantic tenor voice, expert songwriting, and production skills, Romeo Santos has revitalized bachata and expanded its global influence. His numerous awards, including Latin Grammys and MTV Video Music Awards, reflect his lasting impact on Latin music and his status as a cultural icon.
