About Karma Sheen

Karma Sheen is a groundbreaking London-based band known for blending the rich traditions of Hindustani classical music with 1960s-inspired psychedelic rock and deeply evocative Sufi lyricism. Led by Sameer Khan, a musician trained in the venerable 600-year-old Shaam Chaurasi Gharana lineage, the group creates a unique soundscape where classical ragas intertwine with electrified folk instruments, analogue synthesizers, and haunting theremin textures. The ensemble includes multi-instrumentalist Rod Bourganos on sitar and synths, visual artist Grisha Grebennikov on bass and live visuals, guitarist Amad Chima, and DJ/producer Arun Dhanjal on drums, together crafting immersive performances that honor tradition while pushing creative boundaries.

Drawing inspiration from spiritual themes and the improvisational complexity of bandishes and alaps, Karma Sheen released their self-titled debut album in October 2023 to critical acclaim. Their live shows have captivated audiences at iconic London venues such as the 100 Club, as well as at Bristol’s The Canteen and Brighton’s Green Door Store. They have further expanded their presence through standout festival appearances at Shambala and Boomtown, and by sharing stages with notable artists like Marcos Valle, Yin-Yin, and Nabihah Iqbal. Supported by the PRS Foundation and receiving significant airplay on BBC 6 Music’s Gilles Peterson and Stuart Maconie’s Freak Zone, Karma Sheen continues to emerge as a vital force in contemporary music, seamlessly merging ancient heritage with innovative sound.
