About Editors

Editors is an English indie rock band formed in Birmingham in 2002, consisting originally of Tom Smith (vocals, guitar), Russell Leetch (bass), Ed Lay (drums), and Chris Urbanowicz (guitar). Emerging as a key figure in the post-punk revival movement, Editors quickly carved out a distinctive sound marked by brooding atmospheres, emotional intensity, and powerful melodies. Their debut album, "The Back Room" (2005), featuring hits like "Munich" and "Blood," established them as a critical and commercial success, earning a devoted fan base and critical acclaim.

Over the years, Editors have evolved their sound while maintaining their core alternative rock roots. Follow-up albums such as "An End Has a Start" (2007) and "In This Light and on This Evening" (2009) embraced darker, synth-driven textures, deepening their sonic palette and securing high chart positions across the UK and internationally. Lineup changes have occurred, but the band’s creative vision and commitment to exploring melancholic themes with intricate instrumental arrangements remained steadfast.

Editors’ later works, including "The Weight of Your Love" (2013) and "Violence" (2018), showcase a willingness to experiment and refine their style, blending driving rhythms with evocative storytelling. Known for intense live performances and atmospheric soundscapes, Editors continue to be a significant and influential force in contemporary British rock, balancing their post-punk influences with a modern, evolving sound.
