About The Acacia Strain

Formed in Springfield, Massachusetts, in 2001, The Acacia Strain has established itself as a cornerstone of the East Coast metalcore and deathcore scenes. Renowned for their apocalyptic soundscapes, relentless triple-guitar assault, and crushing rhythms, the band skillfully fuses hardcore intensity with elements of noise, death metal, and doom. The original lineup featured vocalist Vincent Bennett, guitarists Chris Daniele, Daniel Daponde, and Daniel Laskiewicz, bassist Karrie Whitfield, and drummer Ben Abert.

Their early releases, including the debut album "...And Life Is Very Long" (2002) and "3750" (2004) on Prosthetic Records, laid the groundwork for their signature brutal sound. After various lineup changes, The Acacia Strain reached new heights with the 2008 album "Continent," which topped Billboard’s Heatseekers chart and marked their mainstream breakthrough. Subsequent albums like "Wormwood" (2010) introduced melodic hooks without sacrificing heaviness, while "Death Is the Only Mortal" (2012) and "Coma Witch" (2014), released under Rise Records, showcased evolving musicianship from newer members Devin Shidaker and Rich Gomez.

Continuing their trajectory of innovation, the band released the conceptually rich "It Comes in Waves" (2019) and the critically acclaimed "Slow Decay" (2020), which dominated multiple rock charts. In 2023, The Acacia Strain revisited their metallic hardcore roots with "Step Into the Light," layered with complex riffs and powerful rhythms. That same year, they explored sludge and doom influences on the mini-album "Failure Will Follow," featuring collaborations with artists such as Dylan Walker of Full of Hell and Ethan McCarthy of Primitive Man. With over two decades of pioneering heavy music, The Acacia Strain remains a dynamic and influential force in modern metal.
