About Estrella Fugaz

Estrella Fugaz is an innovative musical project from Toledo led by Lucas Bolaño, born in 1981. Blending traditional folk elements with contemporary electronic soundscapes, Estrella Fugaz crafts a distinctive auditory experience that resonates with both warmth and experimentation. The project functions as a duo alongside drummer Ricardo Ramos, famed for his contributions to Cabeza and Bolaño’s earlier alias, ELM (Experimental Little Monkey).

The sound of Estrella Fugaz intricately weaves samples, synthesizers, Spanish guitar, layered percussion, and compelling vocals to produce songs that traverse between the everyday and surreal. Their lyrical themes touch on personal relationships, fatherhood, and the darker corners of Spanish society, all framed through a lens of humor, nostalgia, and occasional nods to science fiction and animated cartoons.

Lucas Bolaño’s rich background in underground DIY culture, free improvisation, and experimental music deeply informs Estrella Fugaz’s creative direction. Bolaño has released numerous records on international and national labels such as Audiotalaia (Valencia), Popmuzik (Japan), and Discos Walden (Madrid). His previous work as ELM earned him recognition within the Grupo de Resistencia Sonora, a collective championing marginal music genres. Notably, Bolaño was selected for Red Bull’s Madrid music residencies in 2013, culminating in a showcase at the Fringe Festival.

Through Estrella Fugaz, Bolaño continues to push boundaries by seamlessly merging folkloric tradition with electronic innovation, making the project a standout name in contemporary Spanish music.
