About The Slow Country

The Slow Country is a vibrant seven-piece band from Manchester, celebrated for their seamless fusion of alt-rock energy and alt-folk intricacy. The group, consisting of Joe, Charlie, Gina, Miren, Ben, Finn, and James, has undergone several evolutions, performing earlier under the names Slow Horses and Slow Country before solidifying their current identity. Their sound is marked by intertwining guitars, mandolins, and violins, skillfully layered to create rich, textured arrangements that distinguish them within the contemporary indie landscape.

A signature element of The Slow Country’s music is their use of dual, often duelling vocals, which add dynamic tension and a conversational quality to their songs. Lyrically, the band navigates a compelling blend of surreal imagery and stark realism, often laced with humor and playful absurdity. This balance lends their performances an unpredictable and engaging edge that resonates deeply with audiences across the UK alternative scene.

Known for their energetic live shows, The Slow Country combines multi-instrumental prowess with a down-to-earth charm that has helped them build a devoted following in Manchester and beyond. Their innovative approach to songwriting and expanding soundscapes positions them as a promising and enduring force in modern indie music.
