About Cala

Cala, a vibrant duo hailing from Inverness, Scotland, has swiftly become a standout force in the contemporary Scottish folk scene. Emerging with their debut single "Causeway" (2020), Cala captured attention by infusing traditional Scottish music with fresh energy and heartfelt live performance charisma. Their first full-length album, *From the River* (2023), offers a compelling mix of spirited traditional tunes and introspective moments, reflecting the deep influence of the Scottish folk traditions that shaped their musical roots.

Expanding beyond their folk foundation, Cala has embraced a broader sonic palette with singles like "Two-stroke Wheelbarrow" (2023), blending groove-driven rhythms and experimental textures that amplify their dynamic sound. Their latest release, "Pillars" (2024), marks a further evolution—layering rich 1980s-inspired synths and heavyweight bass into a sunny, catchy anthem that signals their willingness to push genre boundaries.

Their energetic and innovative approach has earned Cala spots at prestigious festivals including The Reeling, Festival Interceltique de Lorient, Under Canvas, Belladrum, and The Gathering, where they have won over enthusiastic crowds. In autumn 2024, Cala embarked on “THE WORLD TOUR (of Scotland),” a self-funded headline tour showcasing a blend of fan favorites and new material. Currently, Cala is deeply engaged in crafting their next project, fueled by the same passion and creativity that continue to define their evolving musical journey.
