About Todd Terje

Todd Terje, born Terje Olsen in 1981, is a seminal figure in Norway’s electronic music scene and a pioneer of the nu-disco movement. Emerging in 2004, he quickly gained acclaim for his inventive fusion of dub, disco, synth-pop, house, and techno. Early in his career, Todd Terje attracted attention with creative edits of classic tracks by artists like the Bee Gees, Michael Jackson, and Santana, blending nostalgia with a fresh electronic sensibility.

His breakthrough came with the 2005 release of "Eurodans" on Prins Thomas’s Full Pupp label, which set the stage for a prolific period of remixes for key Scandinavian acts such as Hans-Peter Lindstrøm and Studio. In 2010, he compiled many of these reinterpretations into the seamless DJ mix "Remaster of the Universe" (Permanent Vacation). This was followed by the acclaimed "Ragysh EP" (2011) on Running Back, featuring the beloved track "Snooze 4 Love."

Todd Terje’s 2012 album "It’s the Arps" (Smalltown Supersound) marked his wider breakthrough with the iconic club hit "Inspector Norse," which significantly expanded his international profile. Parallel to his solo work, he collaborated with notable artists including co-writing Robbie Williams’ 2012 chart-topper "Candy" and producing tracks for Franz Ferdinand’s 2013 album "Right Thoughts Right Words Right Action."

In 2014, Todd Terje released his highly anticipated debut full-length, "It’s Album Time," blending prog-inspired synth textures with vibrant dance rhythms. The album features a standout cover of Robert Palmer’s "Johnny and Mary," performed alongside Bryan Ferry. Further evolving his sound, Terje formed the live band the Olsens—members drawn from Jaga Jazzist and the Trondheim Jazz Orchestra—and together they released "The Big Cover-Up" (2016), a collection of unique covers and remixes featuring collaborators like Prins Thomas. Todd Terje remains an influential and innovative force, bridging underground dance culture and mainstream electronic music with enduring appeal.
