About El David Aguilar

El David Aguilar, born in 1983 in Culiacán, Sinaloa, is a distinguished Mexican singer-songwriter whose career began in 2003. He masterfully blends traditional Mexican and Latin American folk music with pop-folk influences drawn from the 1960s to the 1990s, creating a sound that is both timeless and innovative. Throughout his career, Aguilar has released four albums, starting with the independently produced *Ventarrón* (2011) and the self-titled *El David Aguilar* (2014). His later works, *Siguiente* (2017) and *Reciente* (2020), redefine the album format; these "anti-albums" consist of tracks conceived and recorded independently with various producers across different locations, resulting in eclectic, boundary-pushing collections.

El David Aguilar’s songwriting has garnered critical acclaim, earning him seven Latin Grammy nominations, including Best New Artist and Song of the Year for "Embrujo" (2018), as well as Album of the Year and Best Singer-Songwriter Album for *Siguiente*. His collaboration with Natalia Lafourcade on "Danza de Gardenias" further cemented his influence in the Latin music scene. Esteemed peers such as Kevin Johansen, Jorge Drexler, and Mon Laferte have recognized his artistry, and in 2015, he shared his expertise through a composition master class at Berklee College of Music in Boston. Continuing to evolve, Aguilar explored a raw, intimate guitar-and-voice album format slated for release in 2021, reinforcing his place as a vital force in contemporary Latin music.
