About Danae Dörken

Danae Dörken, a distinguished German-Greek pianist, has emerged as one of the leading artists of her generation, captivating audiences worldwide with her dazzling virtuosity and profound musical insight. Recognized early on by the legendary violinist Yehudi Menuhin at just seven years old, Dörken quickly gained acclaim in Europe’s premier concert halls for what the *Kölner Stadt-Anzeiger* described as her "sparkling joy of playing."

Her formative studies under renowned mentors Karl-Heinz Kämmerling and Lars Vogt shaped her technically brilliant yet deeply expressive style. Over the years, Danae Dörken has become a sought-after collaborator with major orchestras around the globe. Her discography demonstrates stunning versatility—from her 2012 debut album featuring the works of Leoš Janáček to her ICMA Award-winning solo release of fantasies by Schumann, Schubert, and C.P.E. Bach (ARS Produktion).

Among her standout recordings is a critically praised interpretation of Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 21 paired with Mendelssohn’s rarely performed Second Piano Concerto, performed with the Royal Northern Sinfonia under Lars Vogt’s baton. Her evocative solo album *ODYSSEE* (Berlin Classics) received multiple international nominations, cementing her reputation as a compelling and innovative pianist.

Beyond her solo career, Danae co-founded the Molyvos International Music Festival in 2015 on the Greek island of Lesbos with her sister, Kiveli. The siblings’ 2023 duo album, "Apollo & Dionysus" (Berlin Classics), highlights their profound musical synergy. Danae Dörken’s evolving artistry and collaboration continue to enrich the classical music landscape internationally.
