About Massimo Silverio

Massimo Silverio, born in 1992 in Cercivento, Italy, is a compelling singer-songwriter whose music eloquently bridges ancient tradition and contemporary innovation. Rooted in the unique cultural tapestry of the Carnic Alps in Friuli Venezia Giulia, Silverio primarily sings in Carnic, a rare minority language native to his mountainous homeland. His work stands out for its seamless fusion of folk, classical, and experimental influences, enriched by a diverse array of instruments such as cello, double bass, piano, and the distinctive guzla from the Dinaric Alps. Layered with synthesizers, electric guitars, and electroacoustic textures, his soundscapes create intimate atmospheres where his luminous voice narrates evocative tales in both Carnic and English.

Silverio’s debut album, "Hrudja" (2020), produced by Manuel Volpe of Rhabdomantic Orchestra and Nicholas Remondino of LAMIEE., takes its title from a Langobard word symbolizing the “crust” of a healing wound. This poetic metaphor underscores themes of rebirth, resilience, and cultural memory, inviting listeners on a journey through the fading language and timeless landscapes of his heritage. Through his deeply personal and innovative approach, Massimo Silverio transforms the rituals, rivers, and stories of the Carnic Alps into a universal meditation on identity and renewal, securing his place as a distinctive voice in contemporary European folk and experimental music.
