About The HU

Formed in 2016 in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, The HU has distinguished itself by pioneering a powerful and original genre known as "Hunnu Rock." This sound uniquely blends traditional Mongolian throat singing and native instruments with the intensity of Western heavy metal, creating a fresh voice on the global music stage. Their debut album, "The Gereg" (2019), quickly rose to the top of the World Album and Top New Artist charts, drawing acclaim from major outlets such as Billboard, The Guardian, and GQ, as well as earning praise from Sir Elton John. The album’s success earned The HU Mongolia’s highest honor, the Order of Genghis Khan.

A deluxe edition of "The Gereg" featured collaborations with Jacoby Shaddix of Papa Roach and Lzzy Hale of Halestorm, expanding their sonic horizons. Their rising profile also caught the attention of Metallica, leading to their participation in the 2021 "Metallica Blacklist" tribute album with a cover of "Through The Never." The HU’s music further reached audiences through an original track for EA Games’ "Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order." Extensive sold-out tours across North America, Europe, Asia, and Australia and standout appearances at festivals like Coachella, Lollapalooza, and Download Festival helped cement their worldwide reputation.

In 2022, The HU released their second album, "Rumble of Thunder," reinforcing their place as global cultural ambassadors. That same year, they made history as the first rock or metal band named UNESCO Artists for Peace, a testament to their unique blend of Mongolia’s heritage and modern rock energy. With a deluxe edition of "Rumble of Thunder" continuing their ascent, The HU remains a compelling force that bridges ancient tradition and contemporary music.
