About Nicky Jam

Nicky Jam, born Nick Rivera Caminero on March 17, 1981, in Boston, Massachusetts, is a renowned pioneer in reggaeton and Latin trap music. With Puerto Rican and Dominican heritage, he moved to Barrio Obrero, Puerto Rico, at age ten, where his passion for music took root. Emerging from the underground mixtape scene in the 1990s alongside DJ Playero, Nicky Jam quickly established himself with early albums like *Haciendo Escante* (2001) and *Vida Escante* (2004), the latter gaining wider acclaim following a 2005 re-release.

After early success, Nicky Jam faced career setbacks but revitalized his trajectory by relocating to Colombia in 2010. There, he cultivated a fresh sound with underground hits such as "Tu Primera Vez" and "Curiosidad." His breakout global success arrived with the 2015 hit "El Perdón," a collaboration with Enrique Iglesias that topped Latin charts and cemented his status as a leading Latin music artist. The 2017 album *Fénix* marked a powerful comeback, featuring collaborations with artists like J Balvin, Daddy Yankee, and Sean Paul. This album topped the Latin Albums chart and cracked the Billboard 200 Top 30.

Nicky Jam's signature style combines romantic melodies with infectious reggaeton beats, showcased in hits like "Travesuras" (2014), "Hasta el Amanecer" (2016), and "X" featuring J Balvin. His ongoing collaborations with major figures such as Bad Bunny, Maluma, Ozuna, and Steve Aoki demonstrate his enduring influence and versatility, solidifying his legacy as a global Latin music icon.
