About Kelsey Lu

Kelsey Lu is a dynamic and multifaceted artist from Charlotte, North Carolina, known for her innovative fusion of classical training and contemporary music. As a classically trained cellist, singer-songwriter, producer, composer, and poet, she first garnered widespread attention with her striking 2016 EP "Church." This was followed by her critically acclaimed debut album, "Blood" (2019), which solidified her reputation as a unique voice capable of blending orchestral elegance with modern experimental sounds.

Throughout her career, Kelsey Lu has collaborated with a diverse range of influential artists, including Lady Gaga, Florence + The Machine, Kim Gordon, Yves Tumor, Sampha, and Skrillex. Her artistic reach extends beyond music into visual art and performance, often intertwining themes of healing and boundary-pushing creativity. She has worked alongside visual artists such as Jacolby Satterwhite, Wu Tsang, and Precious Okoyomon, further expanding her interdisciplinary approach.

In addition to her recording and performance work, Kelsey Lu has composed award-winning scores for notable films like the Netflix documentary "DAUGHTERS" and the BAFTA-winning A24 film "Earth Mama." She also starred in Janicza Bravo’s "House Comes With a Bird" alongside Pedro Pascal and Natasha Lyonne, demonstrating her versatility as a performer.

Her groundbreaking projects include the Guggenheim-commissioned installation "Anthem" with Beverly Glenn-Copeland and a sound installation at the 2022 Venice Biennale. Kelsey Lu’s presence in the fashion world is equally prominent, featuring in campaigns for Gucci, Chanel, Jil Sander, and Miu Miu. With new music anticipated soon and a sophomore album in the pipeline, Kelsey Lu continues to redefine the landscape of contemporary art and music with her visionary artistry.
