About Decoder

Dallas-born producer and DJ Decoder has established himself as a distinctive voice within the global techno landscape through his hyper-minimalistic, sci-fi-infused body music. Growing up far from traditional dance music hubs, he began crafting his sound independently at just ten years old using Fruity Loops, drawing inspiration not only from Detroit techno’s futuristic minimalism but also from video game soundtracks and synth-pop. This eclectic foundation imbues his work with a blend of playful sophistication and introspective depth.

Decoder’s evolving style marries rhythmic, drum-driven grooves with hypnotic minimalism and subtle melancholia, reflecting influences from artists like Aleksi Perälä and Ricardo Villalobos, while exploring microtonal and minimal techno territories. His music has found a home on esteemed labels such as Axis, Molecular, Float, AMTK+, and his own imprint, Toca Records. With strong endorsements from techno luminaries including Richie Hawtin, Jeff Mills, Rrose, and Amotik, Decoder has toured extensively across North America, Europe, and India.

Known for captivating performances at renowned venues like Watergate, De School, Knockdown Center, Fold, and Cialo, Decoder continues to push the boundaries of modern techno. His unique fusion of futuristic restraint and full-bodied rhythms cements his reputation as a forward-thinking innovator in electronic music.
