About TTSSFU

TTSSFU is the solo project of Tasmin Nicole Stephens, a gifted multi-instrumentalist from Wigan, UK, now based in Manchester. Tasmin began sharing her music publicly at just sixteen, launching her career with lo-fi bedroom recordings uploaded to SoundCloud in 2020. Using GarageBand, a digital audio platform she favors for its simplicity and charm, she crafts her distinctive sound independently, relying solely on her self-taught skills and keyboards.

Her music is deeply rooted in the rich textures and experimental spirit of 1990s shoegaze and alternative rock, drawing inspiration from pioneering bands like My Bloody Valentine, Sonic Youth, and The Microphones. TTSSFU’s work melds dreamy, atmospheric layers with raw, emotive songwriting, embodying the modern DIY ethos of bedroom pop and the shoegaze revival. This blend creates immersive soundscapes that feel both nostalgic and refreshingly contemporary.

Born into a musically influential family, Tasmin’s passion for music is infused with heritage—her father, Jimmy Stephens, was a drummer for Australian rock legends AC/DC, while her grandfather was the iconic Leonard Cohen. This lineage, combined with her personal resilience and artistic vision, shapes the authentic and innovative quality of TTSSFU’s music. Her rise exemplifies how the digital age empowers independent artists to craft compelling, genre-blurring music without traditional industry support, resonating deeply with listeners worldwide.
