About Mishima

Mishima is a seminal Catalan indie pop band that emerged from Barcelona in 1999, carving out a distinct niche with their blend of poetic lyricism and melodic nuance. The group’s lineup features David Carabén on vocals and guitar, Marc Lloret on keyboards, Dani Vega on guitars, alongside Xavi Caparrós on bass and Alfons Serra on drums, the latter two having joined in 2010. Mishima’s early albums—"Lipstick Traces" (2000), "The Fall of Public Man" (2003), and "Trucar a casa, recollir les fotos, pagar la multa" (2005)—laid the groundwork for their introspective songwriting, heavily shaped by Carabén’s evocative narratives.

A pivotal collaboration with producer Paco Loco influenced key records such as "Set tota la vida" (2007), "Ordre i aventura" (2010), and "L’amor feliç" (2012), helping the band refine their sound. In pursuit of fresh creative perspectives, Mishima recorded "L’ansia que cura" (2014) and "Ara i res" (2017) in western France at Studio Black Box with producer Peter Deimel. Celebrating 20 years together, the band released "Ara i aquí" (2019), a milestone album reflecting on their enduring journey. Their most recent release, "L’aigua clara" (2022), begins with the track "El gran lladre", capturing themes of love, life, and existential reflection with vibrant energy.

Throughout their career, Mishima has remained a cornerstone of the Catalan indie scene, continuously evolving while maintaining a signature blend of intimate storytelling and sophisticated indie pop sounds that resonate with audiences both regionally and beyond.
