About underscores

Underscores, born in 2000 in San Francisco, is a trailblazing American musician recognized for her innovative fusion of hyperpop, dubstep, and rock elements. As a transgender woman of Filipino descent, she stands out not only for her genre-defying sound but also as a prominent figure within the LGBTQ+ music community. Underscores has risen swiftly within the underground scene by blending vibrant electronic production with heartfelt songwriting, capturing the spirit of contemporary digital music culture where bedroom producers can achieve widespread influence.

Her distinctive style reflects a deep engagement with themes of identity, technology, and human connection, pushing the boundaries of modern electronic and pop music. As both a producer and performer, Underscores crafts intricate, emotionally charged soundscapes that resonate with a generation seeking authenticity amidst heavily stylized music frameworks. While contributing meaningfully to the broader hyperpop movement, she maintains a uniquely personal artistic voice that defies traditional genre constraints.

Through fearless experimentation and a commitment to authentic representation, Underscores continues to expand the possibilities of 21st-century music. Her growing repertoire of fresh, genre-bending tracks and engaging performances solidify her place as an influential artist shaping the future of electronic and pop sounds.
