About Kim Petras

Kim Petras is a German-born singer and songwriter who has carved out a distinctive place in the global pop music landscape. Born in 1992 in Bonn, Germany, Petras relocated to the United States to pursue her music career, quickly gaining recognition for her infectious blend of dance-pop, hyperpop, and electronic dance music. Her sound combines catchy melodies with bold production, resulting in energetic tracks that have resonated widely across international audiences.

As one of the first openly transgender artists to break into mainstream pop, Kim Petras has been a trailblazer for LGBTQ representation in the music industry. She gained significant acclaim with her 2019 album *Clarity*, which showcased her dynamic range and fearless approach to identity and sexuality. Petras’ breakthrough reached new heights with her collaboration on "Unholy" alongside Sam Smith, a track that earned her the historic Best Pop Duo/Group Performance Grammy in 2023—the first Grammy awarded to an openly transgender woman.

Throughout her career, Kim Petras has worked with prominent artists and earned accolades from the MTV Europe Music Awards and other prestigious platforms. Signed to Republic Records, she continues to push creative boundaries, merging electronic production with pop sensibilities while maintaining a loyal, global fanbase. Her bold persona and unapologetic artistry make Kim Petras not only a vibrant pop icon but also a powerful advocate for transgender visibility and inclusivity in contemporary music.
