About Greg Freeman

Greg Freeman is a Vermont-based singer-songwriter celebrated for his immersive storytelling and richly layered soundscapes. Emerging from Burlington’s vibrant DIY music scene, Freeman’s distinct voice—alternately creaky, crooning, and sharply penetrating—cuts through textured arrangements filled with horns, pedal steel, and orchestral strings. His debut album, I Looked Out (year unspecified), captures this dynamic range, blending urgency and narrative depth across tracks like the relentless "Tower," the guitar-driven intensity of "Souvenir Heart," and the anthemic "Palms."

Freeman’s songwriting vividly weaves biblical imagery and apocalyptic visions with grounded tales of personal struggle and historical tragedy, including the downfall of a 1920s ocean liner. His lyrics echo the complexities of human experience, drawing from themes as varied as Floridian outcasts and Green Mountain melancholy. On stage, Freeman channels raw emotion through fierce guitar work and passionate vocals, creating performances that resonate with cinematic intensity. As a powerful storyteller in indie folk and rock, Greg Freeman’s music continues to captivate listeners with its emotional honesty and expansive, brass-laden atmospheres.
